About Marilyn

Dr. Marilyn Preston is a distinguished expert in social justice and social equity, bringing over a decade of extensive experience in curriculum design, program evaluation, and advocacy. She is the founder of a consulting group dedicated to addressing critical issues in educational and health equity, social justice, and anti-racist pedagogy.

With a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Missouri, Dr. Preston has specialized in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, policy analysis, and program development. She also holds an M.S. in Human Services Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management from the University of Missouri, as well as a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a focus in Community Studies from Goddard College.

Dr. Preston’s professional journey includes her current role as an Associate Professor and Director of the Family Studies Program at Metropolitan State University. Previously, she served as an Assistant/Associate Professor at Grand Valley State University and as a Faculty Fellow at Colby College. Her rich academic background is complemented by her practical experience managing youth programs at Columbia University Community Impact.

An accomplished educator, Dr. Preston has 15 years of experience teaching in higher education and 10 years of experience in creating and sustaining community and civic partnerships. She is also highly skilled in facilitating DEI programs and trainings, with a focus on progressive and experiential pedagogy.

Her consulting services encompass comprehensive evaluations, innovative curriculum design and review, program development, subject matter expertise, pedagogical consultations, and participatory evaluation designs. Dr. Preston is committed to fostering inclusive and transformative educational experiences that empower individuals and communities.
